The Perpignan-Mediterranean region
Freshness of the coast
As soon as summer comes, the inhabitants of Perpignan abandon their abodes for the reviving freshness of the seashore. Indeed a moment of highly appreciated ventilation under the fulgent summer sun.
It is this very freshness that the vineyards of the Lafage Estate, planted on terraces of round pebbles from the quaternary period whilst enjoying a sea view, endeavour to capture by means of the capricious sea breeze.
It is at the end of the day that the hazy cloudiness extends over the coastline and provides the vines with a hint of reviving spindrift with an ever so slight brininess. Focussing on essentially old vines such as white Grenache, Muscat, and Shiraz, this land puts emphasis on the fruit and enhances the qualities of sweetness, lightness and novelty. These are wines that savour the summer and yields amply what it has drawn from the environment.
